Introduction

joe's work

The Ireland Tour Song

I wrote it on a trip to Great Britain and Ireland. Most of it will be meaningful to those who went there. Charles was our guide. Jing was a young Oriental woman on the tour.

Joe Cardillo December 2024

THE IRELAND TOUR SONG

(To the tune of Molly Malone, AKA Cockles

and Mussels in Dublin's Fair City.)

On the streets of old Dublin

Our  coach was a- rumblin’

And Roger -- our driver

Took us through the town.

He drove straight as an arrow

Through streets broad and narrow

I'll marvel of drivin’

No better can be.

Chorus

Alive Alive Oh Oh

Alive Alive  Oh Oh

Crying cockles and mussels

Alive Alive Oh Oh

And Molly endowed

She held them so proud

T’he Book of Kells

No Molly we see

Charles did us a snooker

On the old Gateway hooker

He teased us to please us

That's what I'd say

Chorus

At Bunratty Castle

For foes was a hassle

And farmers nearby

The alarm was a cock

The Ring around Kerry.

The roads were so scary

But mountains and bays

Were pretty to see.

Chorus.

The Queen had her army

The McCarthys had blarney

The English and Irish

Fought year after year.

On Bog Charles was dancin’

His stature enhancin’

And Jing kissed the stone

But didn't kiss me
